The 14 Pin Camera socket is known as a Sony K-connector. Details of the pin connections are available online.Fault and repair guide
No reel rotation
This is a very common problem which can have several causes. The first thing which fails is usually the reel idler assembly. Replacement units are readily available and can be fitted easily after removal of the cassette carriage. Next suspect the drive belt which connects the idler to the motor. Finally the motor itself is prone to failure. No tuner input
This is usually caused by failure of the RF combiner / splitter unit. Unfortunately it is not easy to repair this unit.Timer and/or standby LED fail to illuminate
This is caused by dry joints where the LED are soldered onto the front PCB. In order to gain access to the PCB you'll need to remove the front panel and the servo board on the LHS of the deck.VCR tape transport is sluggish
Internally the VCR contains many drive belts which are used in the mechanics of tape transport. With age these belts become slack causing malfunctions and when this happens the whole lot should be replaced.VCR fails to accept or eject tape.
This is usually due to wear and tear on the cassette carriage. Best remedy is to replace but this is not practical these days.Replacement function button membrane
If the function keys for the unit have worn out, it is unlikely to be able to source a new replacement, however it is fairly straightforward to create your own replacement. This could be done by printing a colour replica on sticky backed paper and then covering the top surface of the paper with clear contact book covering material which also has a sticky back.
Noel Higgins has kindly provided a possible Excel template to do this.

Fault | Solution |

Failure to accept a tape | The problem is nearly always down to the cassette loading slot motor belt being old and slipping.
Also sometimes the user has accidentally pushed in the 'TIMER' button and this will also not allow a cassette to be loaded into the machine. |
