Prefer Beta personally, but I've got a number of V2000 (and indeed N1500 and N1700) machines which I use for video to DVD transfers. I like the VR2023, it's a lovely slick mechanism and great pictures. The biggest heap of junk has to be the Grundig 1600 which has lousy performance and a plasticy feel.

I have a confession to make. Around 1992 I was phoned up and asked if I would like a house full of V2000 video recorders. Most of them were brand new and many boxed. V2000 is the best because of its automatic tracking. Recordings of more then 15 years old are still stable. Pay attention to dust and filth on the capstan and remove it. Especially at the edges of the tape on the capstan. Every mechanical machine wil suffer on that after long usage and even a VCR2000.

Unfortunally the image is very bad and I thinking that is has to do with the tracking, but I haven't been able to adjust the tracking. Is there a way to adjust the tracking?
